Metallica has been one of my favorite bands for years. Unfortunately, their style and direction has changed, but I still listen to their old CD's. The last few that they released were not that great, in my opinion...too much MTV, I guess. :(

DOWN is another killer band. This band has released only one album as a side project. The lead singer for Pantera got together with members of CoC and EHG to record this album...Nola. It really rocks. If you like heavy music like Pantera and older Metallica, you should love this effort.  They sound like Alice in Chains on 'roids.  I hope they will release a second album soon.

Slayer was a big "speed metal" band in the 80's, and they are still going strong despite getting no radio airplay. The last few albums from Slayer have been awesome, including their most recent, Diabolus In Musica. I just got it, and it is a must, if you are into this type of music.
